Tunic

I took this tunic from my mom so I could wear  it to Yoga, but I like it so much that I wear it all the time. Its so airy, flowly and light, and not to mention perfect for summer. I've also noticed embroidered printed tops pop up everywhere of late, who knew this classic Indian embroidery print could be so popular? 

Insight: Your value doesn't decrease based on someone else's ability to see your worth :)

Mood Boosting 101

Making the most of your day when you are in a blaaaah state of mind.

You know its just one of those days when you feel like you never really got up. You feel tired, unmotivated, don't have any energy and don't really want to get out of bed. Everything feels a drag and time consuming. All you want to do is lay around. But in the back of your mind, you also know that you don't want to let the way you feel consume you. You're left with two options, am I going to make this day or will this day make me? I've experienced both sides of the same coin and have decided that I feel better when I make the day. But there is a problem, I don't feel like doing anything! All I want to do is eat a bag of cookies, watch endless hours of Netflix, stay in my pajamas and call it a day. However, if I do that, I always end up feeling not so hot. So how can I take my blaaaah day and make into at least an okay day if not a great day? Here are a few tips: 
  • Shower (preferably cold if you can) as soon as you get up. It'll wake you up and get your blood flowing
  • Make yourself a healthy and nutritious breakfast so you won't ravenously stuff your face later. For example: a green smoothie, oatmeal with bananas, chia seed pudding, egg omelette with your favorite vegetables or even some pancakes
  • Wear something you feel amazing and beautiful in. Dress to impress (impress yourself)
  • Grab your favorite latte or tea from a coffee shop you love, stick around for a bit to people watch
  • Write yourself a Here is what I know letter. Take a look a this example, {here}
  • Read some inspiring, motivating and empowering quotes
  • Start reading that book you've kept eyeing to read, but never got around to it
  • Walk barefoot on the grass, even lay a blanket down and go cloud gazing
  • Talk to a friend on the phone or in person, catch up
  • Give yourself 5 compliments. Read this post on why you should make it a daily practice, {here} 
  • Workout, its an instant mood booster. I've been loving {these} easy, fun workout videos on YouTube
  • Write down whatever you're feeling, get it out on paper. Check this out, {here}
  • Explore a new area of your town, city. Take pictures with your phone or camera to document your new experience
  • Wear a new eye make-up look, maybe you've always been curious about wearing green eye shadow 
  • Clean, tidy up your room. A clean environment means a clear mind
  • Smile at or compliment someone. This is a great way to make yourself feel better by making someone else feel better 
  • Write down the things you are grateful for. Download this great app for your iPhone called {Gratitude Journal 365}. 
  • Above all be kind to yourself, cherish yourself and don't hate on yourself for having a blaaaaah day, it happens and its okay

Eat Clean \\ Gluten-free Banana Pancakes

I love pancakes, especially chocolate chips pancakes, but I don't like the way I feel after I eat it. For the majority of my life, I have eaten for my mouth and not for my body. I consciously started asking myself, why am I eating the foods I do? How does it make me feel? Bloated? Lethargic? Unhappy? Fat? So, why am I not being conscious about the kind of foods I am feeding my body? After all I only get one body to get me through life, I cannot go trade it in for a new one. Since then, I have decided to go gluten-free and wheat-free. I have noticed a HUGE difference in the way my stomach looks, the way I feel after I eat. So that's just a little snippet on my new lifestyle. This recipe I am sharing with you is for gluten-free and wheat-free banana pancakes. It's delicious!

Ingredients:
1-1/2 cup brown rice flour
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
¾ cup almond milk
1 tbl coconut oil (or oil of choice)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbl agave nectar
2 ripe bananas, mashed
For Serving: agave/honey/pure maple syrup, sliced banana, peanut butter
Directions:
1) In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until mostly smooth.
2) Add the eggs, milk, oil and agave. Mix until combined.
3) In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
4) Incorporate the flour mixture into the banana/egg mixture and stir just until combined.
5) Heat a skillet to medium heat and add oil to cover pan.
6) Form small pancakes on the skillet (about 2-3 tablespoons each) and allow them to cook a couple of minutes, until the sides begin to set up, before flipping to the other side (be gentle, these pancakes are more fragile than your average pancake).
7) Cook another 3 to 5 minutes until pancakes are cooked all the way through.
