Goodbye 2013

A few outfits from this past year

As I sit here in retrospect and look back on 2013, one word comes to my mind: growth. This past year has presented itself ample amounts of opportunities, which I have embraced and welcomed, to be my authentic self. Being authentic means knowing that you are a divine expression of the Universe. Only you can give the gift you are here to spread and share with the world, and there is no competition in that. Growth taught me to be kind, compassionate and accepting of myself as I am, how I am and where I am. There is nothing I need to change, do or become to fully be content or happy. All I need to do is accept what is. Happiness does not come from external things nor is found outside of you. Happiness is an eternal emotion, meaning it is a part of you, it is your true nature and you are an expression of it. So for the coming New Year don't make happiness your priority, be the happiness instead.

For growth alone won't change anything, you have to embody the change and know that change will always come, but you will always remain constant because you are the stillness to change.

As I continue to grow and welcome change into myself, my blog will as well. 2014 is the year for personal empowerment, recognizing and embodying my magnificence, spreading love, light and peace, but most of all being my authentic expression! Watch how I made my New Year Resolutions, here.

Wishing you a New Year filled with love, light and empowerment!
Happy 2014!

Christmas is not a time or a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

Holiday LBD

I've teamed up with my blogger friend Rita from, Coast With Me, to do a fun holiday look styling a little black dress! I call her version glam and edgy, check out her outfit {here}. My version is more boho chic with a hint of sweetness, haha! Rita has great style and I love checking her blog daily for outfit inspiration. We've gotten to know each other well this past year, and she has been extremely supportive and kind to me. Lots of love!

Days of Blue

Hollister Jeans / Forever 21 sweatshirt / Gap Turtleneck / Forever 21 coat / Mossimo via Target bag / Urban Outfitters booties

Day 10 of 12 days of Christmas

My posts everyday till Christmas are nearing to end, and I've had so much fun working on this little project. It's really forced me to be consistent with posting! Take a look back on the past 9 days to see what kind of content I've put up. In other news, Chicago has been really gloomy, damp and cold for the past week, and this outfit was my way of brightening things up and bringing a little hint of blue to the mix. Blue is my happy color! Tell me what is your happy color?

Wishing you an AMAZing week!

diy // scrub

Day 8 of 12 days of Christmas

Ingredients:
1.5 Tbsp Turbinado Sugar
1 Tsp Lemon Juice
1 Tbsp Coconut Oil
1 Tsp Raw Honey

Method:
Combine all ingredients, store in a glass jar with lid {keep in fridge}

Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, it's an excellent moisturizer and helps with skin's elasticity. Lemon juice helps to lighten acne scars and brighten skin. Raw honey is antibacterial and is amazing for acne.

This scrub is great for exfoliating, treating acne scars and keeping your skin moisturized. I use this scrub on a weekly basis to pamper my skin and remove dead skin cells. You're left with smooth and soft skin!

diy // Quote Print

Day 7 of 12 days of Christmas

I absolutely love love love love quotes and I am pretty good at coming up with my own quotes too, read them here. So in honor of my quote addiction, I decided to share with you a fun do it yourself project! Quotes keep me inspired, motivated and upbeat so I always have tons of empowering quotes all around me.

What you will need:

- Cardstock Paper
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Sharpie
- Frame or Matboard

Method:
Pick a quote you love, draw straight lines using a ruler and then write out the quote on the cardstock paper in pencil. Once you've gotten it down exactly how you want it to look, trace over the pencil with sharpie. Wait a few seconds. Then erase any visible pencil markings. Add any other fun decorative touches if you'd like. Now frame your creation or tape it to a matboard {see picture two} if you don't want to use a frame.

Happy Quoting!

Recipe | Pancakes

Day 6 of 12 days of Christmas

This recipe is a twist on the traditional pancake with it being a pancake perfect for the Holiday season! It resembles Fall fading into Winter, as we prepare for the cold, snowy and long weather ahead. This recipe would be great for Christmas morning breakfast or when you want to add a little something different to your day! I hope you enjoy it :)

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cup of Gluten-free Pancake mix {I used Bob Mill}
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Half diced apple with or without peel
  • Thumb of fresh ginger minced
  • 1 egg OR 1 flax egg {1 tbsp flaxmeal + 3 tbsp water, store in fridge for 15 minutes}
  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbs coconut oil {use water if you want}
  • Maple Syrup for serving
Method:
  • In a bowl, combine gluten-free pancake mix, apple, ginger, cinnamon
  • In a separate bowl, combine almond milk, egg and coconut oil
  • Combine wet ingredients to dry ingredients, stir well
  • Use a non-stick pan to cook your pancakes OR use Earth Balance butter to grease the pan before cooking pancakes

Serve with diced apple on top and maple syrup!

Enjoy!

Nails // Midnight Blue

Day 5 of 12 days of Christmas

On my nails: Oraly Opposites Attract, Sally Hansen Extreme Glitter, Sally Hansen Extreme Celeb City

Its no secret that I love doing my nails and especially love playing with a fun nail design. This is my take on 'holiday nails'. Its different than the usual red/green color palette, and thats what I love about it. It reminds me of a cold, snowy winter night cozied up by the fireplace with a hot tea and surrounded by fairy lights!

Happy Tuesday!
