Who do you intend to be?

Who you intend to be is in itself one of the most important identities you will give to yourself. Do you intend to be a passionate lover, a motivating speaker, a proud animal activist or a stylish fashionista? Whatever it is that you intend to be, do it with intention and do it as an authentic expression of yourself.

So tell me below, who do you intend to be? I intend to be my authentic self expression in everything that I do, to use this quality to educate and spread consciousness, spirituality, self love, self acceptance and to live a passionate life on purpose.

Find your way back to your self

We’ve all been there, that place where we lose sight of our self and who we are. How do we find our way back to our self? How do we open our hearts to courage so that we can take that step towards being with our self? We must begin, no matter how painful, no matter how low, no matter how frustrated, no matter how irritated and no matter how upset we are. We have to believe that even in the darkness there is a light shining. This light is not on the outside, but on the inside. Inside of you, where it remains lit, untamed and unshaken by any winds from the outside. Why? Because the outside circumstances, situations, emotions, thoughts or feelings have no affect on it. The only affect on it is the effect of eternal love; which is its fuel. This is the reason why this light burns in the first place. To realize this knowing is the initial step in allowing yourself to come back to  your self. When you grasp on to the stillness presented in this presence, you can use it as a rope to pull yourself out of wherever it is that you’ve gotten yourself lost into. Take a step towards accepting that where you are right now is okay, but its not where you belong. You belong in the open loving arms of your self, with the one that accepts you and loves you unconditionally. The conditions in which you are right now, are not conditions of your self. They are imaginary puppets of your dualistic mind, whose only requirement is that you obey it, honor it and listen to it. What if you didn’t do that? What if you chose not to listen? What if you decided to break the chains with which it has tied you down? Instead, what if you chose to honor Creation, of whose masterpiece you are? And what if you lovingly chose to honor your true self? You are not separate from your self, your mind creates the separation in order to satisfy its desire to always be in charge. Always be in control. Always be in the limelight. Your self doesn’t need this limelight, because its light is not one to be reckoned with or even one of comparison to the mind. It burns confidently in its knowing of who it is and who it has come here to be. Sit with this conscious knowing, thank it and allow it to embrace you and allow it to guide you back home, back to your self.

Beautiful Things

Adapting the attitude of gratitude into my life has been the most rewarding thing I have chosen to do to uplift my spirit and boost my spirit currency. By taking the time everyday to be present in my life and pay attention to all that encompasses my daily grind welcomes a space for appreciation. When we appreciate ourselves, our lives, our strengths, our talents, our gifts, our abilities, our personality, our bodies, our food, our friends and family; we can begin to see how many beautiful things are always present with us even in the worst of times. So starting today, grab a journal and right before you go to bed each night write down 5 things you are grateful for. Dive deep into gratitude and really see how abundant you are! Gratitude opens the doorway for abundance to enter, but most of all make us realize that we are already infinitely abundant beings.

Tell me one beautiful thing in your life below!

For whatever reason at that point in time these pictures didn't make the cut, but now they do. It's weird that once you stop looking for the flaws or the bad in things that all of the sudden you don't see them at all. Instead, what you notice is only the good. What you focus on expands, so focus on all things good!

Being your authentic self should be easy, but in a world where we are told everyday how to act, talk, walk, dress and eat, that becomes far from easy. It becomes more like a constant battle with yourself, a battle with many tears shed, many nights pondering what life has in store for you and many years contemplating who you even are. In a world where we worship idols based on who can look the prettiest, be the skinniest, or receive the most accolades, we end up feeling like nobodies compared to those 'somebodies'.

Its time to stop feeling like a nobody, its time to give yourself a chance, its time to stand up for who you are. its time for authentic expression. its time to forget what people will say or think. its time to represent your self, embody, embrace and empower who you are. To be yourself is to break those false conditioned beliefs you hold about who you 'should' be. Being you is the gift you give to yourself and the world. In a world full of people who have a lost their identity; regain yours and understand that to empower yourself is to empower another person to embody who they are. Forget what the masses do or say; its none of your business anyway. Your business is you. How you feel about yourself, what you think of yourself and most of all how you talk to yourself. Learn that yourself is the best friend who will never stray you wrong, leave you or hurt you. Send compassion, love and healing to every part of you that you've shunned, tore apart and abandoned. Because love heals and compassion creates room for love. Heal yourself, heal your life. Create peace in yourself, create peace around you. Be yourself or be nobody. Be your authentic expression and live your truth!

You know, just wandering through winter wonderland and pretending like I am in Narnia! Chicago got hit by a huge snow storm earlier in the week followed by subzero degrees weather with a windchill of -47F. See how the city turned into a icy landscape mimicking that of Serbia; hence, "Chiberbia".

(These pictures are from before the temperatures dropped). Hope you are staying warm and keeping cozy. And if you live where the sun is shining and the skies are blue, please think of me!

Regardless of what the weather is like, I hope you choose to shine anyway!

How to Overcome a Setback

You are driving down the Pacific West Highway, feeling the wind in your hair and listening to your favorite tunes all while admiring the beautiful blue ocean. Life is good; you feel content with not a care in the world. Then, all of the sudden you get a flat tire and your perfect scenario turns into a not so perfect hot mess, with you having to figure out how to fix a flat tire.

Scenarios like these are a common occurrence in this beautiful existence called life. The minute we feel like things are going good, all of the sudden the exact opposite happens and we find ourself down in the dumps; caught up in a storm. How do we recover? How do we overcome it? How do we move beyond what we are going through so we can feel better and be ourself again?

Shift the focus from what has gone wrong to what has gone right. Every situation, opportunity or event comes bearing lessons to learn, something to grow from. When you can stop looking at it as an attack on you; you stop trying to make it your story and give it life by drowning yourself with compulsive thoughts that are far from helping you. Your thoughts create a spiral affect and you begin to get caught up in very powerful emotions that start to eat you from the inside out. In moments like these its so crucial to bring it back to the breathe, focusing on your inhalation and exhalation, but also surrendering to what the moment holds for you. Embrace it. Accept it. Sit with it. Let it be. Don't shun it. Don't shun yourself nor beat yourself up. Open up your heart to send love and compassion to those parts of you that strongly feel troubled; they need it now. Only with love and compassion towards yourself can you begin true healing and open up a doorway to understanding what your feelings are trying to tell you. Once you can accept that your feelings always work for you; not against you, you will allow room for new a perspective to enter. Choosing to see something beyond its actuality; is choosing to see it down to its barebones, because the obvious isn't always subtle or easily identifiable. It may take some time to pin point where the tension lies, but remember to uncover anything you have to be willingly go deeper, go inward.

By taking the initial responsibility to embrace the moment as it is; you can welcome space into your being to move forward from a place of calm and peace. Remember its not about how well you can avoid the storm, but how well you can deal with it.

Free Hugs

I am starting a series/features on my blog titled Spirit Currency along with many others which will all start this week. I am excited to finally create content that is helpful and inspiring. My whole intention with my blog for this new year is to provide a place where you can get inspired to live a better life, be your authentic expression and empower yourself. My theme for 2014 is to surrender, being my authentic expression and doing more of what makes me feel good.

What is your theme for the year?

This past weekend I had an amazing opportunity to do something completely out of my comfort zone, give free hugs to random people in the heart of the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue. A friend of mine turned me on to the idea; although, hesitant at first I accept. I accepted because I want to say yes to growth and no to safety or 'the safe zone'.

We always have a choice between safety and growth. Self-actualization is the process of making every decision into a chance for growth. When we choose safety, its often done out of fear causing us to regress. Choosing growth allows for us to welcome new experiences into our life. At any given opportunity, choose growth and fearlessness so your authentic self can be expressed. That is exactly what happened to me. At first I was shy, awkward and even thought to myself: what the heck did I get myself into. However after the first hug, I felt a shift in my energy. I let go of any inhibitions, any judgement and welcomed compassion and love to be the channel through which I take on this opportunity to connect with complete strangers on a heart to heart; soul to soul level. I began to see people past their form identifiable bodies and really see them for that beautiful glowing light of abundant energy within. Only when you can allow space into your heart to see others for who they are, can you really begin to understand that all people really want is to be loved and feel connected. It was the most exhilarating, uplifting and heart opening experience I've ever had. If you are in the Chicago area and would like join in on the next Free Hugs event email me and I will send you the link!

Lift yourself by lifting others; then you will realize the true joy in being alive!

Skin Solutions // Acne + Acne Scarring

To make this mask:
1 tsp of raw organic honey
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 tsp of nutmeg
squeeze of a fresh lemon juice

Mix all ingredients together
Apply to face and let sit for 30 minutes
Rinse off mask
Pat skin dry
Follow up with a moisturizer {I use Jojoba Oil}

I have struggled with terrible, out of control and severe acne for the last 7 months up until recently. Around late October last year, I could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, as my acne began to clear up. Now I am to the point where I am not actively breaking out as much, but I have tons of acne scarring. The picture to the right is without any retouching and I am not wearing foundation. If you look closely you can still see tiny bumps and scarring. I have found this mask to be so helpful in helping to diminish the scarring and really deep clean my skin. I haven't used this mask long enough to really notice a difference yet. Currently I use it twice a week at night. I will do an update in the next few months with how well it treated the scars. However, just topical solutions won't make your acne related issues go away; following a clean diet, eliminating all sugar {anything that is not natural fruit sugar} and drinking about 2.5 liters of water a day has drastically improved the condition of my skin. So do what feels right for you, but definitely use this mask if you are looking to give your skin a hand!

H&M jacket / Turtleneck via Target / H&M pants / ASOS bag / H&M booties

As I embarked on a new way of living, but on a very familiar path in 2013; I never could quite grasp how fashion or writing a fashion blog fit into the picture. I mean 'being spiritual' has nothing to do with fashion and fashion is just a projection of the superficial, product obsessed, consumerist society we live in. Right? Those were the thoughts running through my head, I mean how dare I post pictures of what I wear when I am in pursuit of consciousness, awareness and living an authentic life from my inner center. I struggled a lot with that concept, and even stopped blogging for a bit. But I still wasn't able to shake it off, because I enjoy taking pictures of my outfit, dressing well and expressing myself through clothes. So thats when it clicked for me: if it makes you feel good and if it feels natural then you don't need to justify why you should or shouldn't do something. Being spiritual has nothing to do how well you can embody spirituality or how spiritual you can get, its about stepping into your truth, owning who you are and expressing it! So my intention for the new year is to be my authentic self expression and have my blog be a reflection of how I live my life aside from just the clothes I wear. How you dress, what you choose to put on your body is an expression; and all of life really is expression. I want to broaden the focus from a superficial and form identified way of existing, to that of a way of living from your inner center. So my content will get deeper as I welcome space into my heart to share, spread but most of all continue to learn as a spiritual being.

Have a beautiful day!

You are enough. You are so enough, it is unbelievable how enough you are.
